FACTS
- The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
which aired on CBS beginning in 1967
openly mocked the Bible with David
Steinberg comedic sermons followed
soon after by Saturday Night Live (1975).
- In the late 1980s The Simpsons created by Matt Groening made its debut on the Tracey Ullman show. This series and other animated television series' such as South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama have portrayed biblical characters as drunks, sexually promiscuous, fakers of miracles etc.
- Cable television networks such as the History channels, Discovery channels, ABC/Disney and others since the early 1990s have broadcast Bible documentaries that regularly feature liberal academic scholars and liberal clergy who do not believe the Bible is historically reliable.
- From the early days of Hollywood through 2013 Bible films have been largely fictionalized and contain atheistic propaganda such as the idea that Jesus was not the son of God but the son of a Roman or a Herodian soldier that Mary slept with (The Nativity Story).
Is there biblical illiteracy in the church?
Is the entertainment industry
pushing anti-Bible propaganda?
Yes, there is biblical illiteracy in the Church and Hollywood is taking advantage of that fact with poor film content. Atheistic academics know that the Church is not informed about the scientific evidence for the Bible thus they have a free reign on network television to say whatever they choose and receive little or no criticism.
